If that's your budget Jim, then I would go for the genuine Toyota/Lexus one. I paid around £62 inc VAT and fitted for that price and as Parthiban said you might get 10% off that.

This was for an IS200 though, I don't know if the one for the IS300 is different.

My car stays tucked in bed when it subzero outside...mainly because it hasn't a hope in hell of getting off the drive :p

If it's parked up and not used at all for periods of time..... all the more reason for a more powerful battery!

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

Jim, I can not see that the short out across the ALT wire and earth would have knackered your battery mate, all it would have done is momentarily drawn a very high current before the Fusible link blown.
If this starting problem only manifested since you started to play with the car I would make sure that nothing is draining your battery down before you rushed out and spent £70 on a new battery.
If you need my help give me a shout and I will come round and check for current draw as well as test your battery.

following our discussion the other day about little batteries ive just bought this as well:

http://www.tayna.co.uk/Optima-Yellow-Top...-P439.html

a bargain at £40!
gonna mount that in the boot with most things attached, and the tiny gel one in the engine bay attached to the starter and a split charger.
better power for the car, and space in the engine bay for more bit lol

Optima batteries are a very well known brand and with a CCA of 750a, looks like a very capable battery
