mine was checked by kwick fit 2 weeks ago they said it was all fine gave me a print out etc yet after about a day or so the power has dropped down to 11.10v and it grumbles to a start...

what you might want to to do it chuck a DMM on the positive side set to amps and see what the draw is on the car in the following conditions

Car IGN on (not running)
Car in ACC mode (not running)
Car Off
Doors locked
doors unlocked

see what the readings come back as

Isnt it just sods law that when I renewed my car insurance I told them I didnt want to renew the homestart cover!

Looks like it might be a trek to Halfords tomorrow though I REALLY dont want to waste my money on one of their overpriced batteries

something is wrong somewhere
A knackered battery will not drop to 7v unless something has drawn power from it, its the amps capacity that drops off.
I have a Halfords trade car if that helps mate

i would suspect the Car pc as they draw alot of current especially when the car isnt running, you mentioned somewhere that is was set to kill all power after 2minutes i think it was, thats a fair bit of time for the car transformer to draw current for....

So I finally got myself up and running again...

This morning I asked a mate to bring round his battery charger. When we hooked it up to my battery it showed only 2A. But even weirder was that after 2 hours of charging it had actually gone down to 1A!!!

So it definitely looked like time for a new battery. Called Lexus who wanted a reasonable £70 but unfortunately not in stock. So my only other option was hellfrauds where they had a nice meaty Bosch Silver for £120 (yes my a*se still stings).

Got a jump start which was enough to get me there, and then I had to change the battery in Halfords car park before I could get home lol Smile

As for the car PC, I dont think it is related, but I'd be interested to see how much my car is drawing when off. The Car PC is set to 'soft off' after 1 minute where it gives Windows the chance to shut down properly. If after 1 muinute it hasnt shut down, it cuts all power.

Can current draw be measured with a multimeter or do you need one of those clamp things?

You can use a clamp thing, my dad has one and I'm sure a local has one too (rabster, etc) if you need to use one.
