jay_russell i think you will need bigger injectors and a piggyback ecu and a fuel pump with return line to push out that power

Rabster you need an ecu not the black box to get more stav did all this i think dimis is aswell

Gord No you need piggy back ecu to control the injectors mate, standard injectors good for 250bhp.

OK then, some slightly varying views, but interesting to know all the same, thanks guy.

I am gonna leave this one for now though and start my own thread in the Supercharged/Turbo'd section, as and when the time is right.

2tongues Or just sell the IS200 and get an IS300, at least thats got a tunable engine in it from stock.

But then my TTE charger would not fit!

But you could sell it and get a 'charger for the IS300.
Besides a 300 is generally quicker then a charged 200, without the insurance hike.

Fair point. However, I'd have to sell the charger just to afford the 300. I'd never get the cash together to charge that then! As for a stock 300 being faster than a TTE 200, I believe the gap isn't massive, and sometimes, for me, it's not all about speed, but a combination of speed and sound!

Plus if I did charge a 300, of course it would be much faster than a charged 200, but seeing as you mention insurance, I don't think mine would take to kindly to a car pushing near the 400bhp, which it probably would be!

I'm on a budget at the mo. I don't have the 200 yet, but have the purchase agreed. Bearing in mind I have most of the parts already (charger, Teins, 'zaust etc.) you would still be surprised if I revealed how small the budget was on which I plan to buy the car and apply all the mods! (Though I'm not going to.)

Not that I don't generally agree with you.

Marsdendean Stav said you could run a turbo on low boost with a blackbox and get around the 210BHP figure for abouts 2K and then when you can afford / want to, get a piggyback ecu, remap and different injectors and go for more power

That is actually a brilliant idea. Especially in relation to the original poster (sorry, we've run away with it a bit!) I will follow a similar route myself, though with a charger not a turbo. I'll max out at about 250 brake, but a turbo can obviously potentially make a lot more.

2tongues Its all about the efficiency of the turbo and how turbos produce boost over chargers. The TTE charger is just not capable of producing enough airflow to get past 210 - 220bhp. If you want power turbo is the best way and getting the correct type of turbo is essential - as is excellent mapping.

There is an IS200 running 330 on standard internals, I think Rabsters is on 300BHP ish. It is a blooming fast car, I had the pleasure of driving it on the last Switzerland tripBig GriniscoStu:

"The TTE charger is just not capable of producing enough airflow to get past 210 - 220bhp". Are you sure mate? And how does my supercharger produce with a 150mm pulley and a greddy ecu -> 205whp (ie. 250bhp). I also have posted a dyno graph in project thread so I can confirm my results!!! Soon I will increase the power to around 270 bhp with the bigger pulley I have in my hands and with a new remap.

Yep, you are correct mate. If someone fits a bigger pulley, they must fit bigger injectors, paralllel ecu, correct mapping and bigger intercoooler to save their engine from blowing.

I forgot about your setup to be honest!! But gt the time you have done all that work, a turbo would have given more bhp for similar outlay?

Yes a turbo setup will give more bhp, but I had my supercharger already fitted on the car and I wanted to play with a bigger pulley, increase boost pressure, and do a proper upgrade. The result was to have the only I believe up to know TTE supercharger stage 1 (0.5 bar boost) upgrade without any problems or blowing engines and a good bhp output. Soon I am aiming to fit a bigger pulley and increase the boost to 0.6-0.65 bar. I know there is an Austrian owner already with a 165mm and a different piggy for almost 3 months and has not blown his engine (std internals).
