Im currently trying to decide on what I want to do audio wise with my IS200.

I've upgraded the standard headunit to a Kenwood DDX4028BT Double din unit with an amp bypass cable.

I am thinking that I'll probably upgrade the fronts to some 17cm component speakers with tweeters and crossovers. Possibly some smaller - 13cm? components in the rear again possibly with tweeters and crossovers. Then in the boot I am thinking of a single or twin 10" subs, and then obviously amps.

I use my boot alot so I will either make a box/boxes to go in the sidewalls of the boot to maximise space, or possibly a box to sit in the cavity inside the spare wheel (Id leave the wheel in there and make the box easily removable).

Just after some inspiration really....so lets see what youve got?

Also any details of what audio gear youre running and how you find them etc would be helpful.

(I know this sort of thing has been covered alot, but mainly for specific requests, I thought we could build up a thread so people can have a browse through for ideas etc as well as getting advice on what gear to run)

You are presumably after IS200 specifics? I could show you my setup but it probably wouldn't translate very well!

Well yes and no Toxo....Yes I am after inspiration for my IS200, but all setups can be modified and adapted to fit another cars needs/space requirements, and obviously thre advice on what audio gear to use can be applied to any car Smile

Any pics people have got of their sub boxes/false floors/installs etc would be handy for me and others no doubt, and any IS200 setups will be very handy Smile

Why fit 13cms in the rear when standard holes are already 6"x9"? I had 6x9s in the rear before, but I'm thinking this time of just getting top quality front components, and leaving the 6x9 holes empty, to help the bass transfer from the otherwise sealed boot in to the cabin, and to maintain a more audiophile stereo approach to the sound stage.

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

Stoney, Sorry I wasnt very clear mate. I was thinking of fitting 13cm comps into the rear door cards, but wasnt sure how that would affect the dynamics of the sound created by the comps up front and the bass transfer from the boot etc.

I have people in the back say 20-30% of the time, and want the quality/bass/volume to be as consistant as possible throughout the cabin Smile

Here's my contribution:

Its how I had my amp installed when I had my IS200. It bolts up to the underside of the 'parcel shelf' and is on a hinge so you can pull it down when you want to make adjustments. Pretty much takes up zero roo in the boot.

Think Stav's setup is like that too, hinged to come down from the shelf.

If you do that the sound stage is ruined for the driver - speakers in rear doors that is.

High quality fronts (17cm) and a decent sub, all amped up works just fine!!

A point of note though is 6x9's will fit in the rear doors, but you have to fabricate a lot to make them fit nicely, I was going to put 8" subs in mine, but the other project went a tad over budget!!

As for other parts of the setup, i have a stealthboxz in the passenger side alcove.

Rabster is actually selling a drivers side one at the moment.

And finally i have components in the front doors only. thinking of putting some speakers in the rear C pillars but broke the ones i was going to fit so put that on hold for now.
