Unconventional IS200 intake
Oof that can't be the best design for a filter on the charger? That's a really sharp bend in the intake!
Is it only due to lack of option?
Are there any proven gains with the induction kit over the TTE airbox?
I don't have a charger and certainly not criticising - I'm just curious
It will give more power, as it flows more air. Also a lot louder! You could fit a filer almost directly to the charger, but it gets colder and better air in the location we have it.
I understand the principle of the induction kit - not my first rodeo with the IS - but surely any gains will be negated by the severe disruption to the airflow as you don't just want cold air but cold air that isn't terribly turbulent?
Then again, I guess with the location of the intake on the charger, the TTE airbox must have a similar bend no?
Just found these two pictures...
Looking at those it looks like the baseplate is a lot thicker than mine, so maybe the universal adapter I've got just isn't as thick? Either way my shorter bolts will fix the problem when they arrive. And I'll probably trim the gasket around the outer edge to it dosen't stick out just in the interest of neatness.
Makes way less difference on FI. If you were running N/A then it would be relevant but on forced induction kinks and bends and flow rates through filters become less and less important, until you get into the realms of massive massive turbos.
I won't be using Apexi filter elements anymore, having weighed the cost of them vs the green cotton filter people's twin conical design which is exactly the same!
