So to go along with the various other areas of the car the previous owner never bothered looking after my engine bay is absolutely filthy. Can anyone recommend any techniques or products for getting all the usually grease and **** off? I don't have any products or money to buy any with so if there's soon good household alternatives I'd love to hear about them!

Thanks,
Aaron

You can also try using a kararcher if you cover all electric with clingfilm but be carefull when doing this.
Have the lance more on spray than jet....

Doesn't shift the dirt and grease on its own though, but OK to rinse off the APC after it's been applied and agitated with a brush.

GUNK is a really good product from what I've seen, and Muc-Off too Smile

But a sponge and warm water, aggitated works quite well if its not completley caked in grease etc.

I just use whatever car shampoo I've got lying around, with a sponge/cloth to apply/agitate, and then clean off with a 2nd cloth. Got some old turtle wax I bought from halfords ages ago before I knew about cleaning cars, that seems to work quite well.

Ok, this was just with a small bucket of hot water with some old car shampoo in it, using a cloth for applying and another one for wiping off.
