I average about 31mpg, mainly motorway runs and a bit of fun

I've had 38mpg on a run (at 60mph) and with no lift sessions

I've not had any proper races with anyone but the look on people faces as a boring corolla steams past at 8k rpm is priceless. Performance diesel owners (mainly the TDI gang) seem to take it quite personally

Those figures are good enough for me, 35mpg is what I get in the mondeo and that's a diesel!!

I have to admit I never looked at the Corolla cos I thought it was an old mans car but the sport looks more trendy. Definitely going to go and look at some though Smile

The only thing I would say about the T sport is it doesn't have the aftermarket following of its competitors (i.e. Civic Type R). So it you want more power it gets very expensive

If practicality is a major issue have a look at these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-R-HONDA-CIVIC...366wt_1139

The insurance will be higher as its a higher group but its an estate with a 170bhp VTEC engine!

The aftermarket following for that engine (Honda B18) is huge as well

I won't want more power (I hope!), if I do I'll buy another car instead. What are the common mods that are done to the T Sport? Can they be remapped?

I did think about those Civics but I'm not a big fan of the shape, it could grow on me though.

Intake and exhaust really, most people see about 200bhp at the fly with those mods

Standard ECU can't be remapped, piggy back ecu required to remap. They're pretty highly strung out the box too (over 100bhp per litre) so I don't think you'd see much improvement from that alone. Cams (depending on stage) + ECU and you'll see around 20bhp plus an overall improvement in driveability (more torque) but that's big money.

Have a go in one, see what you think

Well the Mondeo is starting to get stripped so I will be looking for it's replacement soon...probably a couple of months once I have enough cash.

I will have to go and test drive one first to make sure I like it or if I can get to a meet have a poke around one. I also think I will have to go for a 5 door so it's easier for me son to get in the back, although the 3 door looks better

Stay away from the 2.2D engine, poor MPG + head gasket problems

The 0-60 times for the T sport are wrong (I'm not complaining though, it keeps my insurance low Smile)

If you can land lift between 1st and 2nd you can do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds
