What sort of car are you looking for?

If your after a "performance diesel" then you'd probably be better off with a VAG TDI of some description (Sacrilegious on a jap car forum I know)

To my knowledge, I don't think there is a hot jap diesel (apart from the SR180/T180)

Dean is very anti-VAG, he has had some bad experiences with a Seat.

I still reckon peeps should not dismiss the sleeper CTS, cheap to buy and to run with very good reliability.
Lift still makes me smile, I had a go with a scooby the other day and the look on the passengers face and the wink he gave said it all

If you can resist hitting lift you can get decent MPG (I don't, smiles are better than miles to me) I average 32mpg

It is a very understated car, the only thing it lacks is a proper aftermarket following, shame really

So, time for a bump! Smile

The Mondeo is being scrapped in a week or 2 and I've got around £2.5k for the new motor. I was going to get a cheap runabout for now but after a long think I would probably be wasting money doing this. I then started looking at the Legacy's again but if I'm honest the low MPG is putting me off but also I think they can have gearbox and headgasket issues. I've seen plenty being sold as spares or stripped with these problems.

That brings me back to the Corolla T Sport. I saw one yesterday parked up so had a nose around it and I really do like the look of them. Some of the reviews I've read say they're a boring looking car but I don't find that at all. I'm hoping to test drive one soon to make sure it is what I want.

I'm not sure whether to go for an 01/02 model or try and find abit more cash for the later 03+. I think these had the strut brace fitted and a facelift? How much are the strut braces to buy if I wanted to fit one, sounds like I will need to though with the body roll. I will definitely be lowering the car as well.

Also is the tyre size 205/50/16 and what other sizes can be fitted with no issues, on the same rim? I'll be looking at getting winter tyres for it as well.
