Its been rattled out on TOC a few times.
The supercharger problem relates to dealers not knowing anything about them, its not even on the service schedule as its classed as a separate job and when you consider that its £3.5k to get a new one fitted you can't exactly say that's good. Some people have actually been told that the oil will last the life of the charger (that's sorta true :lol
I've re-read my comments regarding TTE and I have made an error there (apologies), they are a TTE car but its because they're a rare car that the dealers know nothing about them.
The point I was trying to convey (rather badly I must say) was their existence is fully justified, they cost a fair bit more to buy and run than the CTS but their only slightly faster/look a bit better. I have heard that the prototype compressor was supposed to be a lot faster but was knocked back by emissions etc
The IS200 charger is the same situation, thats why people on here have probably more knowledge about them then the average dealer.
2tongues Same reason why its cheaper to insure a Supra then an MR2. Supras are not cheap and therefore tend to be driven by older/more experienced drivers - MR2's are cheap as chips (£1500 for a 300BHP car cheap enough?) and tend to be driven by younger/less experienced drivers, who statistically crash a whole lot more. OK we could all point to several examples of older people driving the cheaper cars and crashing them a lot, and vica versa but those are some of the stats insurance companies see and use.
Insurance companies work off statistics not the same logic that we as car enthusiasts use.
