Hey all,

I've done Google search etc, but cant really find what im looking for. Does anyone have any close up photos of the later spec dark chrome headlights? I am hoping to get a spare set of headlights, then open mine up to fit angel eyes and spray them dark. So want to see how dark they are as standard, and which bits are painted etc.

Cheers folks, Matt

Here ya go mate, as promised.....

(Car is very dirty after a long motorway run, modding problems yesterday left no time for washing - don't judge me!)

Thanks Stoney, much obliged

So, would I be right in saying that its more of an anthracite colour, as opposed to black tint? IE, its got a metallic look to it.

Yeah, probably, it's certainly not black. Slightly metallic, I guess that's why they call them dark 'chrome'!

They don't have the amber bits (just amber bulbs so show correct when lit). Other than that, they are the same. If you are opening yours up then you can remove the amber bits easily, effectively turning them into IS300 lights.

As for opening for modifying and Angel Eyes, this has been done many a time. The whole headlight needs to be heated in an oven (I forget the temp and time) so as to soften the adhesive holding them together, then the front can be prised off and you can mess with the insides as you wish. They will need heating again to reseal, and the original "gunk" should be enough, without needing additional sealant. Be very careful though, if you get it wrong they can leak, and you don't want that.
