Getting my car serviced this week, bought all the oils from Opie over the past few months when they had deals on.

I've also got a BLITZ Racing Oil Filter along my travels.

My question is, is it actually any better than OEM or for the few quid it costa should I just get them to fit an OEM one?

EDIT: Or would it be worth maybe getting one of those HKS Hybrid Magnetic ones?

Think someone said the blitz didn't or did (can't remember) have some sort of valve so I got an OEM from lexus just to be on the safe side

You can't go wrong with oem.

just stay oem and get a magnetic sump plug from ebay,to catch any debris.

^ as above. I've read in a few places that the OEM is the best. The only thing I'd maybe do is spray paint the OEM one red and get some TRD decals for it so it looks a bit more sporty..lol Big Grin

That seems like a lot of effort Jim. Why not just buy a red TRD one to start with?

For some reason I thought I read that the TRD ones weren't even as good as the OEM's?

But regardless, if you're even looking at a TRD/Blitz one its got to be because of the 'looks'? There's no other reason to run one of those filters that I can think of as its pointless to have a higher flowing filter if it has slightly inferior filtering properties and the engine isn't going to benefit from the additional flow?

You'll be thinking of the non return valve. Stops the oil draining out of the filter when the engine's off or something along those lines.

Stick with OEM - if you want a better OEM filter you *might* find that the V8 filters fit. These are about twice the size of the standard filter and have a much finer filtering material in them. The Supra guys use them a lot as an upgrade.
