Another weekend, another mod.....

Got the Bailey recirc valve on. I haven't plumbed it into the intake yet as I need to get a flange welded on, but I'm already enjoying the more subtle blow off's that this valve does. Its like comparing the blow off of a petite female against that of a 25stone kebab eating larger lout.

Also something else arrived today courtesy of the post man. There was a £35 import charge so I wasn't smiling at the time, but I'm happy again now. These are for the water pump, alternator, power steering and...i forget the other one.

Also a little sneak peak, of how things are shaping up.

Oh....and I just won something else..... :whistling:

Looking good Jim can't believe how much tax they charge for parts coming into the country like they don't already take as much cash of us as they do.

Can't wait to see you and this car in the flesh

No sh*t! I just got a letter through from Fedex today. £20 charges for importing my supercharger pulley which was only £55 to start with! If I could buy one in the UK and I was hurting our economy by shopping abroad, I could _maybe_ understand. But when it's impossible to get most of this stuff in the UK, I don't see what grounds they have to add tax on for.

Anyway, will indeed look forward to seeing everyone soon. I'm hoping JAE isn;t a washout for those there as its hacking it down here Sad

I've been eyeing up an aluminium one-piece drive shaft for quite a while and I'm also on the lookout for a decent priced A650E box so that I can put a 3200stall converter in it and build it for much more power (sprags/valve body...etc)

Your delivery from dock to your door is paid by you if the sender didn't pay for that run of the trip and "only to the UK" and of course VAT at 20% of purchase price and shipping price attracts VAT also, it soon mounts up. Nothing to do with the economy mate just more money to pay............... The invoice will detail it all????

are you looking at driveshaft shop? I am just about to order a custom drive shaft for the IS200, but I know they have in stock for the IS300

Nah it was all paid up - Fedex deliver door to door. It's only USPS that I know of that hand over to Parcelforce who then try to double rape you.

My gripe is with import tax though. It didn't originate in the UK, so why is it subject to tax? Because the government wants to make sure its no cheaper to buy abroad than it is to buy in the UK, thus making sure it doesn't loose out. But as I couldn't have bought this thing from the UK in the first place, I'm not trying to get a cheap deal. I'm just buying a product from where it's available. So why can't I have it at the price that the country it originated from stamped on it?

indeed mate. Just deciding on steel or alu. Sounds like an easy decision, but they both have pro's and cons from what I've read.

Too bl00dy right, they're just out to make money out of us.

Remember this is a government that banned legal highs because a couple of people died from them. Yet still allows the sale of cigarettes...

You can't expect a government to keep a list of items that are not available in the UK (pulleys are machinable therefore available at a cost) - this is not a valid argument - you want tax free shopping on parts that inherently attract tax - ain't ever going to happen unless someone from the USA posts it to you from a non commercial address....... you know the solution to lower the risk of the tax mans attention.
