can you use the same oil that goes in the gearbox in the rear diff?

Just looking at doing it next weekend with the full service, Just wanted to know before I went and got the oils to do them.

I'm not sure if it's dependant on whether or not you have an LSD as to whether you need a different type of oil. I do however know that if your doing the gearbox and LSD you will need at least 3 litres, if its gearbox and normal diff you will need at least 4.

But I ordered 3 litres of THIS from Opie Oils for my service.

Just loooking at the description it says...

"Fuchs Titan Race SYN 5 fully synthetic gear oil is a multifunction product designed primarily for use in manual transmissions and final drive units, including road and competition limited-slip differentials"

Doesn't mention open diffs though so I'd just double check that they take the same grade of oil first.

Its the sport model, So i am assuming it has the LSD.

Will see what the motor factors has in when i go to pick up the filters. Already got the engine oil, Got 5 litres of Mobil super 3000 5w-30 fully synthetic for £20.

If its the sport then you will have an LSD same as me, so you'll be fine using the same oil in both (good quality 75w-90)

So will this oil mess up my LSD then...? http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68901-fuchs-...5w-90.aspx

It's not JUST for LSD's, but thats on the list of applications you can use it for.

I'm sure that's what the Opie Oils site recommended.

There's this one too...http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68903-fuchs-...f-oil.aspx

Is the one I've got just a fully synthetic version of the other one or are they totally different?

due to the sport diff being a torsen type it only runs on normal diff oil......
75-90 is ok mate also the stuff you have bought is normal oil so its all good..as its not proper lsd oil

When you say 'proper lsd' are you reffering to the ones with loads of little clutch plates?

As I read that those ones require an oil with a friction modifier, which I'm guessing is the bit that would be bad for our type of diff?

people should RTFM then you cant go wrong.

And before anyone atempts to change the gearbox oil make sure you have a way of getting the oil into the gearbox.....
