IS300 Intake on Supercharged IS200
Sparkystav Dean has one on his IS300, i was looking at it at JAE, it must restrict to an extend because when he rev'd the engine it sucked onto the filter and off again.
Yeah, I figured there is no way it could not restrict airflow, even if it was just a little bit? Though I am interested how it effects the sound. Would it muffle it a little? Mine is LOUD!

ad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. ad::offtopic: I would imagine it does VERY slightly restrict airflow, mine isn't ridiculously tight around the filter so air can flow in through the ends as well as through the mesh.
However think of it like this...whats more restirctive, a mesh designed to let air through it, or a wet filter full of dirt and flies? :thumbup1:
With regards to noise, makes absolutely NO difference whatsoever. lol

I forgot to check at lunch! But should have half a day at home tomorrow and will get my tape out then and measure the charger parts positions.
EDIT: 45mm sounds a lot! I don't think there is that much clearance between the header tank and the belt, though I will post once I have actually measured.

Sprinter measured 45mm clearance required. I make the clearance from the back of the header tank to the charger pulley 18mm. NO WAY it would fit. The scoop occupies the space that the entire charger pulley sits in! As shown in the pic.
Also, the pipe I mention that my belt wore through before, was not the one on the side that is essentially a breather, it was the pipe from rad to expansion tank. This pipe has just 4mm clearance from the spinning belt, in it's stock location. Again, as shown in the pic.

You would reduce the airflow by more than 50% on order to get it to clear the charger, and that would render it almost pointless, for the low air flow it would provide.

Would be well out of the way of any heat from the engine, and also benefit from being fed air directly from the louvre in the bumper next to the fog light?
You could then run a filter cover over the top of your air filter to stop a lot of the bugs/water from getting into the filter increasing the service life.
Yes you'd have a hole when you come to sell the car, but a tiny bit of creative thinking is all it would take to cover it up
Have you guys thought about cutting a 60mm hole behind the drivers side headlight and running the intake down throught here into the empty space in front of the wheel arch?

Though something like that is a good option Jim.
