Uprated IS200 injectors on standard ECU
Uprated IS200 injectors on standard ECU
Hi, first time poster on here..
Im after some solid answers here.
I am in the process of turboing my IS200, I am wanting to use standard ECU with Patrics black box.
The other day Squint mentioned that he uses standard injectors on all of his kits 280-300hp, to me this sounds a bit risky.
My question is, what are standard injectors capable of with just a fuel pressure regulator and a return line to the tank.
And,
Am I able to use for example RX8 yellow injectors (450cc) with the standard ECU and black box combo, if not, what can I use?
Thanks,
Matt
You cant use uprated injectors with the standard ecu. Also i believe squints turbo setup with standard injectors is at its limit. Though he has tested and has not run into any problems with fueling.
If you want to upgrade your injectors then you are gonna have to get a piggy back ideally.
I have a Turbo IS200 myself that i have built myself before squints kits were available and i run rx8 injectors i did this using a greddy ultimate but now have moved onto standalone Link G4+ ECU.
Any questions drop me a pm mate and ill do my best to help out
Yep jims right. If you run standard ecu with the rx8 injectors it'll massively over fuel
Seems crazy that all simon's kits use the standard injectors!
I read here on ojc that Phaebo's Supercharged IS200 runs 145mm pulley, 250cc green 1zz-fe injectors and black box with no problems.
I found some 1zzfe injectors for cheap so I will give them a go
I'm scared of running lean and injectors are alot cheaper than a air fuel gauge
the car will run rich on idle with 1zz injectors.
another way to look at it is an air/fuel gauge is cheaper than a new engine. Id highly recommend one for anyone who's tuning their engine
Yeah true, I don't mind if it runs rich on idle though as long as it still drives fine. I got the injectors real cheap so it's worth a go
I had read online somewhere I think LOC uk running more than 130mm pulley would run lean. They said something about there being a larger pulley available for short amount of time but they pulled it because the cars were running lean. Although now that seems like bullsh*t aha
An air fuel gauge would confirm it either way
you can run the 1zzfe injectors with oem ecu and patricks blackbox. The maximum pulley size you can run is 145mm pulley.
If you run the 1zzfe injectors with the 145 pulley it runs perfect!! Idles normal and when boosting you get an air fuel ratio of 11,5:1 so thats slightly rich at the rev limit but safe and runs great.
Make sur to reset the ecu before starting the car.
At the beginning it will idle a bit high and rich but the rpm will settle after a few minutes. The ecu will learn to drive with the bigger injectors and compensate for it.
With the 1zzfe injectors you will be fine but if you go bigger like the 2zzge ( 310cc) it cant handle it. you need a piggy back or something else to control the injectors.
I had this confirmed on my own car with wide band gauge.
