Bit of an update. I don't have the shell yet but hoping for delivery this week. But I need to get rid of the LS400's remains as I don't have space for that many cars!

I tried to buy the wiring manual from Lexus. You can get loads of info from the states and Australia on the earlier 1UZ but not the VVTi. My engine is coil-on-plug, has 4 O2 sensors and is fly by wire as well as having a cam angle sensor and the VVTi solenoids on each head, so the wiring is VERY different to the earlier engines. But the wiring manual is discontinued Sad

So I have been going through the wiring loom labelling up each connector. That way I can reassemble the looms outside of the car and strip out anything unnessecary. There's a lot of it, sadly only half the engine wiring is on a separate loom, the other half runs through the dashboard Sad

This is what came out from the front seats to the back of the car!!

Off to do the dashboard and auxilliary engine loom tonight. Then I should be able to scrap the LS400!

In other exciting news, my engine hoist didn't come with the chain so I bought a lifting strap yesterday. This is what was stopping me from removing the engine. I do need to shuffle the vehicles around the unit though, there's a camper van in the way at the moment that needs to move!

You still on the lookout for for an older engined 1uzfe? May know someone who is selling based in Glasgow. If your interested, I will forward on his details, he also has bellhousong kit for manual gearbox conversion, it's for the w series gearbox though so don't know how interested in that you would be?!

Well really I only want the sump pan and oil pickup etc, which was why I was after a broken one. It HAS to be from a mid-sump car, which I think is only the Soarer but I may be wrong. Don't want to pay full whack for a complete engine when I only want to use 25% of it... W series boxes are of no interest whatsoever lol but thanks for the thought Smile

Yeah I'm using r154 box myself, was from a car that had £25k of modifications on it, yeah w series might of been ok if engine left standard, lol! Soarers came with the rear sumps, I picked up complete sump assembly off a guy who breaks Soarers, email you his contact details tonight if you want the rear sump. I tried the oil sump (not attached to engine) on my project cars sub frame, almost fits in it but had original gearbox on car so need to remove that first to see for sure.

Sorry my project aint a £25k one, lol, was some poor guy who took his completed project car out without insurance, crashed and car was sold on to a guy I bought the gearbox from. Was an impressive setup, £4k brakes system and NASCAR engine! :thumbup1:

My project will be a while in the making as have a young baby, so not much spare time, looking forward to seeing toxo's build thread once the car for the engine arrives!

The car he has in mind is up there as one of my all time favourite car shapes, I just can't stand the waiting to seeing this beauty evolve.

Well it seems like everyone already knows what car it's going in  I should stop getting drunk around you lot.

I'm in the process of buying scottyboy's FD3S RX7. V8 RX7's have been done before but very rarely with a Japanese motor.
