Definitely, you can push it back about a foot, it's had all the supports cut out of it! Very very wobbly! Will be looking for a 99+ front end once the engine work's done. That's realistically about £500 though Sad

Sweet! You've done pretty well what I was thinking of doing, although I may make it so the engine can pull back into the cabin a little more - sidewayz yo!

Nice work though and that Rex has a lot of potential!

Had a bit of a result today. I looked up the mileage on the shell and didn't believe it (bit difficult to check on the car itself as it's a digital readout) so I did a historic MOT check. Turns out the shell is showing at MOT as having 62,000 KM! So about 37,000 miles. That's mega low for a '92!! Less than 2000 a year.

Proper result there!

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

To be fair, that's at the point of last MOT, so it will have a years worth of mileage on it after that. I still haven't looked up what the actual display in the car says, but I will do tonight.

Small steps forward... the LS400 has now gone to the scrapyard in the sky (well round the corner) and the RX7 is indoors ready to be mucked about with. VVTi engine has finally made it onto the engine stand as above, which took a sodding long time as I had to get hold of some 100mm M12 fine pitch bolts! Then when I did get them they turned out to be fractionally too long!

Oh in other exciting news the unit now has gas heating so I can crack on during the winter, and I'm going to pick up a Soarer 1UZ on Sunday so I can nick the sump.

Picked up the Soarer V8 earlier this month, and I've whipped the sump off it. As per http://www.project-ruze.co.uk/?p=62 I have got the oil pan, the upper sump, baffle/windage plate, oil pickup/strainer and the dipstick. That should be everything I need to move the sump from the very front of the engine to the rear, so it avoids the RX7's steering rack. I've also taken the oil level sensor out as well as the one on the LS400 engine is knackered! Helpfully the guy has left quite a few bits on the spare engine, it's still got an oil pump, crank position sensor, dipstick, etc etc.

I've got some photos I'll upload in a bit. Next step is to take the sump off the VVTi engine and work out which mounting holes are the wrong size. I believe that 4 or so of the holes through the upper sump where it bolts to the block are larger on the VVTi sump, so they will need drilling out on the Soarer sump that I'm using. I broke a nut and there are 2 long studs that protrude through from the block to the oil pan which can't be reused, so I'll need to get some of those too.
