Not according to my tape measure.

IIRC the problem is the steering rack.

Craig (who puts LS V8's in them for a living) spaces the rack down but that causes other issues.

Here's the one in NZ I mentioned on your build thread.

Apparently he's running throttle bodies but I haven't been able to find out any other info.

I'll have to dig through my search history, found a couple of v8 rx7's along the way, one of which definitely had the stock bonnet on it. Having said that, it did have an intake manifold similar to the hypertune SC400.

Adarmo Just joined the forum after Google found this thread.

I'm planning on doing the same conversion but with an earlier engine.

I have a fully working RX7 and a fully working Soarer and I just bought an RX7 without an engine and box which is now going to be the project.

I'm using the W58 box (which I have) and I'm unsure which adaptor to use but I think I might go with the KS Racing version.

After measuring up I think I'm going to need a bonnet bulge and VERY tight ex. manifolds.

I'm doing the same, older style 1uzfe in rx7, may have to have v shaped subframe you see on some ls1 conversions to ensure clearance is ok and bonnet does not require modification.

Was talking to a guy up here in Glasgow who said the ks racing kit was good, he had it fitted to had mx5 with the lexus v8 and the w series gearbox, but as said before better with the r154 unless engine is left standard.

Think we need to start our own club as the numbers doing this conversion in a rx7 is increasing by the weeks, lol!

Yes the steering rack is an issue, even with the soarer sump it's the lowest point of interference. As you're aware dropping the rack introduces alignment issues but is very common among the LS crowd.

If I get to my workshop this weekend I will post photos of the soarer sump setup positioned in the engine bay.

It's annoying that LS engines are so expensive over here. An LS1/LS3 with a T56 being cheap would be a real game changer.

Hmm I'm not so keen on the LS1.

I currently own a Monaro and they don't make power low down like the 1UZ and their gearbox is also a bit long / slow which is why I've gone for the W58 as it's got a nice action.

Lets face facts if you can't get a ban with 300bhp (1UZ with an ECU and exhaust) then somethings wrong.

My current RX7 has 330bhp and its fast enough but I want the instant power and the noise of a V8.

Did the Monaro get the WS6 intake manifold? If it didn't then thats where your low down power is being lost the LS1 intake manifold isn't that good - even GM saw their error, my LS1 has the LS6 manifold and has plenty of low down grunt.

Being able to hit 70mph in 2nd is fun, round town I put it in 3rd and pretend its an auto lol.
