toxo After the thermostat I won't touch their stuff with a bargepole! It can only take a small component to take out an engine...

Yes I was annoyed as I paid £20 more for blueprint than a cheap aftermarket one as I was told their stuff was OE quality.

The casting was superb - much better than the OE one - unfortunately the bearing was ****.

Bought this today.

Combining this with an oil filter relocation kit (basically use this plate instead of the sandwich plate that would go on the engine in such a kit) should eliminate the problems with the oil filter meeting the steering rack.

On the V8 the oil filter and cooler are on an arm about 10cm long which protrudes out and down, like this:

That pic is a front sump setup, with the mid sump the steering rack sits there.

People come up with loads of weird and wonderful solutions for it, like tapping the oil pump (!!!), cutting the arm and welding a boss on the end of it etc. I think that plate is the best and easiest way though. I can then combine it with a shiny relocation kit by just binning the sandwich plate off and get an oil radiator in there as well. The RX7 had 2 stock oil coolers fitted behind the bumper as stock, so I shall copy that setup! Means the oil lines will all be pretty short!

Where did you buy the plate from? Going to do the same on mine so I can run an oil cooler and keep the filter in an easy to change location

Does the sandwich plate on the relocation it include a thermostat? If not you will need to fit an inline one

Ahhhhh i thought about that. The relocation kit must always have flow to the filter, so the thermostat bit must be done at the remote end, not the sandwich plate.

Well it depends on how you choose to plumb it up really. You will need a thermostatic switch so that the flow will go always to the filter, but when temp is up, the return to the engine will need to flow through the coolers before going back into the engine.

Yes, but a relocation kit will come with a plate that bolts to the engine (which i will ignore) and a remote plate that the filter fits to. Because flow must always go to and from the filter, whatever thermostat stuff goes on must occur at the remote filter location
