dodgydave Yer it's quite long actually, could be better. I'm also finding its quite difficult changing gear when cold. It's better when warmed up but I think I might look at changing my gearbox oil and I think there's a small amount of oil directly in where the gear stick goes, so might have look at that too.

Still absolutely loving it though. Was out over the week end again with the top down all the time

Sounds like it might need a 'turret oil change'. Basically there is a small amount of gearbox oil that goes into the top where the linkage joins and there are usually 2 gaiters that also need replacing as well (not cheap for the gaiters though, roughly £50 for the 2 Sad ).

I changed my turret oil and replaced the gaiters a few months back and wow what a difference. Gear change is like a bolt action rifle now!!!!

Car is looking great though, and looks really clean. I didn't realise until i read this either but guess the previous owner of mine has done the flash to pass mod as mine also has that Big Grin

Yes, I've just come in from the garage, been fitting a new leather gear lever gaiter and while I had the centre consul out I had a look at the 2 rubber 'gaiters' and as I suspected they're both shot. I thought they probably were as I'm getting a lot of heat through the centre consul, a sure sign. That's why my old leather gaiter had hardened and split.

I will order the rubber gaiters and I'll change the turret oil when I do these.

Was out yesterday with top down again, still loving it Big Grin

But I made the mistake of letting Ann have a drive; don't think I'm going to get it back again Sad

We're off to Lydden circuit on Monday (10 min drive for me) joining up with the mx5 OC to watch the Rallycross championships

I have ordered my rubber gaiters from MX5 Parts, they are doing 10% off everything this week end so it seemed silly not to get them ordered. They came out at £41 odd with the delivery.

I also fitted my handbrake leather cover this morning. I spent ages trying to get the handle off (which just didn't want to come off) and started to take the plastic cover off then realised that the leather cover is designed to slip over the top :o

So a couple of pics of the new additions...............
