My Indecisive 4.0 V8 1UZ-FE Project
Fair enough. This year unlikely?
Fair play mate, it is a big project.
Not royal mail - HMRC customs and Excise...........
Lol makes me so angry they still get away with the 'holding your parcel to ransom' charge.
toxo Bought this today.
Combining this with an oil filter relocation kit (basically use this plate instead of the sandwich plate that would go on the engine in such a kit) should eliminate the problems with the oil filter meeting the steering rack.

Had today off work to do more on the engine, was planning on having a productive day but didn't really work out that way!!
Started off by repairing the starter motor. Fairly straightforward, swap broken piece of metal for non broken one
Regreased all the bearings and stuff and reassembled. I reinstalled the motor between the V having cleaned up the hole that it slots through so that it hopefully won't get jammed again.
Then I sanded the paint runs out of the timing belt cover I sprayed last week and resprayed, and then did 4 coats on the other timing belt cover. After that I started on the intake manifold...
Here's the underside of it. It's a fairly complicated design once you factor in the ACIS system. The centre of the manifold forms the surge tank / plenum of the intake system, then ACIS opens and closes 1 route through the intake to lengthen or shorten the intake tract. It's nothing new, most Toyota engines do this, but they're not usually 8 cylinders - it's a lot to fit into a small space and very cleverly designed.
And ACIS butterflies removed:
I popped to MK to get some nitromors and when I got back the roof had leaked onto the belt covers that I'd been painting hock: Not pleased.
Then I realised I'd covered the intake manifold in nitromors to strip the paint off but the parts washer was full of ****, so I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning that out. Cleaned all the paint stripper off the intake manifold but it needs another going over and I was ****** off by then so I went home!
Lol days like that are **** but you'll get there.
