So i've sacrificed looks for performance and driveability and so far i'm glad i did.

Never been a massive fan of Impreza's but never really given them much thought. When i received an email asking if i'd like a straight swap for this one it had to be considered. It has a full service history and receipts for everything which was a must. Mechanically it's sound but there are some bodywrk issues which need addressing to finish it off. I'm more of a bodywork person than engine mechanics so i was happy enough to take it on.

Spec
  • UK Spec 2000 Reg, Subaru Impreza Turbo
  • Full Prodrive Performance Pack Fitted by the Selling Dealer when new
  • TD05 Turbo Running at 0.9Bar (Can be adjusted to 1.3)
  • Full Decat Afterburner Exhaust, 3 Inch to 5 Inch Tailpipe
  • 550cc Injectors
  • Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
  • Hornet Cat 1 Alarm & Immoboliser
  • Navtrak Tracker
  • Boost Gauge, Volt Gauge & Oil Temp Gauge Pod in Dashboard
  • Version 6 High Level Rear Spoiler with Clear Brake Light
  • K&N Typhoon Induction Kit
  • Forge Dump Valve
  • Angel Eye Headlights
  • Lowered 35mm
  • Prodrive ECU (+40Bhp)
  • Short Shift Gear Change
  • Kenwood Stereo
  • Samco Radiator Hoses
  • Braided Fuel Lines
  • Inovit Redline 17" Alloys

Problem Areas
  • The front passenger wing and corner of the bonnet have some damage.
  • Above Rear Passenger Door has some damage.
  • Laquer peeled off the top of the spoiler.
  • About 4-5 small dings around the body which need popping out.
  • Radio needs wiring in properly. (Loses it's settings)
  • Boot needs tidying up.
  • Headlight washer missing.
  • Laquer on the Alloys is peeling off
    • Future
      • Get it booked in for a health check for peace of mind.
      • Get it booked in at a bodyshop to get the damage to the bodywork/paintwork sorted out.
      • Get it on a rolling road to see what it's performance figures are.
      • Change the rear lights as i'm not a fan of them
      • Change the wheels as they are scruffy and i'm not a fan of the chrome finish. Not sure what sort or colour yet though.

Any comments, critism or recommendations welcome.

Nice one mate, agree with changing the lights and wheels. You might find that the cables on the back of the cd player need swapping, on one i use to have i connected two wires on the back of the cd player to there corresponding colours to find that it lost its radio station signal everytime the radio was turned off so i swapped them ( think it was red to yellow and yellow to red) and it was spot on after that. Think its good that you got a car that still has plenty left you can do. The mr2 was awsome but as far as bodywork went it was done visualy i think, be nice to have more of a fresh canvas. Look forward to seeing it

Thanks Martin. I'll try swapping those wires round and hopefully that'll be job one crossed off the list. I'll be at the meet on Wednesday so I'll see you then if your about.

I'll keep an eye on the gearbox Dale. Feels pretty tight at the minute. It's done nearly 104,000 miles though and sure it's had some hammer in it's life!!

Just a small update from this morning. Removed all the Prodrive stickers (2 either side of the spoiler and 2 under the front side indicators). Removed the Nurburgring sticker and Subaru badge from the boot lid.

Made it look a lot cleaner and also preps it ready for the bodyshop. I'm hoping to get it booked in at Cliff Jacksons while i'm away on holiday next week so i can come back to a nice repaired car Smile

Areas to be repaired:

Front Passenger Wing & Corner of Bonnet:

Area Above Rear Passenger Door:

Top of Spoiler Resprayed:

Also shampoo'd the front seats with my George Wet Vac this morning and this was what came out!!! Minging!!!

Once thats all sorted the paintwork needs a good clean. Tried a test area with Iron-X and bled purple everywhere!! Process will be:
  • Tardis to disolve tar spots and grime
  • Iron-X to remove all Iron Deposits
  • Clay
  • Compound, Polish & Wax
By the time all thats been completed hopefully i'd have made a decision on what to do with the wheels. Can't decide at the minute but here's what i'm thinking:
  • Get the 17" Inovit Redline's Refurbed & Sprayed (Silver, Black or Bronze)
  • Buy new 17/18" Kei Racing Force 10 in Gunmetal
  • Buy new 17/18" Enkei SR6 in Bronze

Force 10's
[Image: KeiRacingForce10.jpg]

SR6's
[Image: EnkeiSR6.jpg]

Leaning more towards the SR6's as they seem a bit different and think will go well with the paintwork when it's cleaned up.

Any comments or thoughts welcome.
