Seen the turbo been done before, the older shape jdm version they did a twin blown version. I have been thinking about a second car to work on as we are moving house soon and getting a drive way. But why not have a look at a Fto, Mx5 or Mr2?

If your intend on a micra, I thought about a supercharger from a mini cooper. You can get them off fleebay for next to nothing. Could be a laugh.

James S Fto.
To big,
James S Mx5
Raw nerve there mate... Before my IS200 I had a MK1 for 4 years. I loved it to bits, I did loads of stuff to that. But in the end, with it being so low it aggravated my back problems and I had to put being able to walk as a higher priority that keeping my road legal go cart . :crying:
James S or Mr2?
Had a look at them (MK2's), But for some reason I couldn't get comfortable in them, The driving position didn't feel very natural to me.

It did cross my mind, But I dismissed it as I think space under the bonnet would be too tight on a Micra (Also, making up a manifold to hang a little turbo off of would be easier than scratch building a supercharger cradle and hoping everything stayed put).

I've seen a few secondhand turbos off Mitsubishi Colt CZT's go reasonably cheap so I was thinking if I get a 1.3 Micra I could pick up one of these and see if it could be made to fit.

Sorry fella, never thought of an Fto being big. You can pick them up for next to nothing.

Having not seen the engine bay of a micra, I wouldn't know if there was enough room. Could always have it sticking out the bonnet? Lol!

Here's an odd suggestion - came from Stav during the JAE setup, when he said that he fancied buying a ford Ka cos it would be massively easy to fit a turbo onto it. He then went into some detail, most of which I wasn't paying attention to (or even understanding) - but he seemed to think it would be both simple, and cheap, and result in a very fun little car to play with...

IS200 Sport - Sold
Mazda 6 MPS - Zoom Zoom!

Modifications
Completed:

Currently 280bhp/295lbft; 3" Meercat custom exhaust; KW Suspension; FMIC; SSP; HPFP; Custom Stainless Steel Dials - for the moment, the only set in the world!! (Till the group buy for MPSOC anyway  )

In Progress:

E-Tuning remap ongoing via Cobb Accessport; Braided brake lines; Stubby aerial; Tinted repeaters and sidelights; 3 Port Boost Control Solenoid; 3" HTP Intake

Stix44 you must spend HOURS typing out all these threads your starting.
Not really. I can type reasonably quickly and I know what I want to say.

If you don't want to read what I write, Fine, I haven't got a problem with that..... But why did you feel the need to add to a post that you yourself said was so long that you hadn't bother reading it?

I could have added more to this post, But I thought it best to keep this one short. :whistling:

In the big scheme of things, They're not really that big, But they look fast.

If you lapped someone on a track day in one they'd put it down to superior fire power. If on the other hand they were lapped by a manky old micra...... :tongue_smilie:

I hadn't thought about a Ka. I'd played with the idea of a Mk2 Fiesta ages ago, But even then, finding one that didn't have terminal rust would be difficult. The Ka is a heavier car than a K11 to start with, And that bl**dy engine! It's based on the old Ford "Kent" engine that's been around since the 50's!
Personally, I'd prefer a reasonably modern little double OHC, Aluminium blocked, 7000+rpm redlined engine over an old heavy cast iron, OHV boat anchor up front........ Even if it's just because I reckon a mate and myself could manhandle a K11's engine in and out without even having to go fetch my engine hoist. :tongue_smilie:

Another base car I have been considering is a honda jazz. I know it's nowhere near as cheap to buy. But they have a strong modern engine, and a very stiff chassis. The 1.4 engine is already nippy, but there are some smaller engines that might be more simple. Also you would get the same buzz when passing round people on a track.

They are also Hondas biggest selling car in Japan, which in turn means you can probably get any aftermarket parts you need.

Fair play if you have your heart set on a k12, just I've been thinking about this myself recently, and there are some cheap options out there for a decent different track day ride.

I still think SR20 would be easiest. It's been done, doesn't require forced induction, will run all day long and won't cost you that much money. You could easily see 210 na out of an SR20 ve.

KA with a RST lump in it - or mk3 Fiesta with an RST lump in it. Both common as muck, but because of that they are so easy and cheap to do. So depends do you want to be "different" and SR20 a Micra, or be a bit more common and RST a KA or Fez? End result would still be more or less the same, and is 132bhp & 133lb/ft as standard
