Right been looking around at turboing my 300 but the money and parts list seems to be growing all the time so I got to thinking about supercharging I don't want to spend loads or make stupid power, I was reading about the one that's being maybe split and he said that its pretty much just the charger and the fuelling that's different and he got 317bhp
I wanna build the kit myself and do it over winter maybe but need pointing in the right direction for what sort of chargers i would be able to run and just info like that
I was planning on just turboing the car and doing a full power rebuild but as its my daily and I wanna keep it as my daily so just a mild charger set up I think will be more than adequate and not be too much as a daily
So where do I start =)

So your tuckin 15's, that's cute but come back to me when you get some proper size wheels

I personally think it would be very difficult to put together your own charger kit for the IS300, unless you are able to borrow an existing kit and have similar parts fabbed up.

One of the hardest parts is building a mount for the charger its self, that will us existing engine bolt points (for things like the alternator) and line up perfectly when the charger is installed. Then it needs to provide enough tension to keep the belt on and stop it from slipping.

Then there's the very tight pipe routing for the intercooler (if you have one - which you probably should).

Don't mean to sound down-beat but I think it'd be hard to do it without spending 'loads'. I spent about £10k supercharging mine....and that was with a prebuilt kit.

10k really if that's the case there's no point could turbo it and get a manual gearbox and run a lot more power for that money god knows what to do then just wanted a bit more power

I know its a saying that is thrown around a lot. But when it comes to FI on a NA car, you need to take the figure you think it'll cost and double it.

Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't really want to go turbo/sc on a 2JZ-GE again. Purely because it would be a lot more cost effective in the long run to do a GTE transplant and not have to worry so much about blowing up the engine.

£10k for a modest increase in power is a lot of money. You tend to realise this once you've spent it, and then start pushing for more power to make your purchases more worthwhile. But in order to do that you need to upgrade the entire engine and soon realise you would have been better with a oem turbo'd motor all along.

The whifbitz 2j turbo kit might be your cheapest option.

Edit: I disagree with the above, the 2jz-gte conversion will cost you a lot more money as it's not a straight swap and you will need some expensive engine management. building the 2j that's in there will be just as expensive as building a GTE once you've got the turbo conversion done anyway.

you can't remap the factory ECU as far as I'm aware, you'd need a piggyback. This also sounds like bollocks.

Just looked at the whifbitz kit in total it'll be about £4800 inc vat and power is between 350-400 depending on what boost its set at but that's including everything so some decisions to make
