Ok had the car for a year new and its due a service, last time it had bogo standard air filter fitted but should i get a K&N replacement filter instead?
Is it worth the extra cost?

Jomo, definite buy. Good addition to the car it supposedly allows more air through than an OEM & as Gord says you dont have to replace it. Just make sure you put the sticker provided on the airbox so when you put it in for a service the mechanic does not replace it.

Haha, yer know what you talking about there Bobby.

All my servicing is done by my mate at his garage, being doing my cars for the past 20 odd years, so if he dose throw it away, he'll be paying me back in beer!!!

Yes, definitely. It should improve the mpg slightly, if nothing else. Also makes a slightly nicer sound IMHO.
