So annoyingly the car is back on stands. The reason behind this i havent found yet. It just has a nasty tractor like blow and it sounds like it before the turbo, so its all got to come back out again to investigate Sad

Sadly no good news to follow that up with, atleast im getting to know the engine more with all this stripping down and rebuilding

Its been a while OJC. I best fill you all in a bit (no pun intended)

Right so to start off with i had a bit of an accident before christmas were i had a fight with a parking barrier. It was dark, i went down the wrong way, reversed in a panic and at speed, found myself riding up a large barrier, parked and swore for about ten minutes. Didnt get any pics of the damage as i didnt want any evidence lol. Id scraped down the drivers door to the rear arch, pritty nasty but ive seen much worse.

So straight after the much unwanted incident i was on the tinterweb to find a local spray shop. I came across Paint Perfect, these guys were spot on. I had alot off work done ontop of the damage repair and they didnt hesitate at the thought of smoothing or rust repair, in fairness they shouldnt but some garages cringe at having to do some smoothing work. Anyway what i had done was the damage on the passenger side, the rear bumper had cracked paint, the drivers side rear arch rust repaired, drivers side front wing replaced with second hand one and resprayed, front bumper had a nasty plastic weld repair on it so that had to go plus smoothing the number plate buldge and headlight washers out and the wing mirrors respraying. So a good size list. When i picked it up the boss (Jon) said "we were struggling to get a good colour match so we sprayed both sides of the car with no charge" NICE!!!!!! is what i thought. He was also so happy with the work his boys did and how it came out that hes asked me to be on his stand at the Lincs Evolution show on the Brayford at Lincoln, so i need to keep her clean till then so this weather can do one now lol. Anyway heres some pics.......

that was a very ugly and rusty wing before.......

this was were the damage was, with no pictures you cant realy appriciate the before and after but it wasnt pritty.

So with the front bumper smoothed i didnt want to be bolting or taping my plate back on there as i will have it off for shows. So i made myself a couple of numberplate brackets just to keep the police off my back, **** laws...

So last time i posted i was showing all the mot prep, one of the other things it failed on was track rod ends, i got a set of Japspeed rod ends for a good price through SXOC..........

I also mentioned the issue with the manifold i kept having, i bit the bullet and took it to Corten Miller to get them to put it on there ramp and have a look. Turned out the the manifold wasnt flat on the gasket surfaces, i wasnt to happy about that, so instead of busting a ball in the cold on my drive again i got them to skim the mani and replace all the exhaust gaskets with nissan OEM steel ones. No problems since (touch wood). While it was at Corten Millers i bought a Turbosmart boost gauge from them to help keep an eye on the boost side of things....

Not a great pic. Does the trick and looks pritty smart too. Also got an early crimbo pressie while she was in the garage in the shape of an Apexi power intake.....

i straight away realised that my manky panel filter was not helping as the acceleration threw me into my seat and threw a massive smile on my face. The blow off noise the filter makes is awsome, the best way to describe it is fast and furiousy (i think). So with the intake in i decided that a cold air feed would be a good idea to keep the hot air at bay.....

A quick shot of the engine bay as she is at the mo (bit dirty mind)......

and finnaly i gave her a good wash and took the 18's off to protect them from this nasty weather.....

......kept the spacers on to try and have a little bit of stance lol.........

and just another look at the nose end as im proper happy with how it looks.

Thats it for now, shes staying as is for the show season. Gives me a chance to save up. Until next time.......

Looks good mate, nice repair job.

To be legal your number plate only has to have a 13mm border around the letters so you could make it a little smaller if you wanted.
