Hi guys, i knew the day would eventually come and today my bay sprang a fault on me, can anyone shed some light on it please?

The battery was dead so i had to jump start it from my mates Astra, she turned over first time and everything was ok except i noticed this.

I have half a tank of fuel yet its showing 0 (empty) and my fuel light was blinking constantly, i drove it for about 1/2 an hour and this was a constant issue.

Tried taking the ECU fuse out nothing, reset the car a few times and nothing.

Vauxhall contamination. Better wash car inside and out thoroughly.

On doing some research with engine running i was advised to open the fuel flap, unscrew the fuel cover and then wiggle the white plastic internals of the fuel neck where you put the pump into when you fill up.

I did this opened the flap with my finger a few times, came back turned the car off for a minute, restarted it and all back to normal.

Fixed, so thanks for any input guys.

toxo Stuck float then!

Well its not done it ever before, and not since?

Would a stuck float not do this a lot and cause the gauge to over or under-read? Not drop to 0 and flash constantly?]

Im only asking by the way not preaching Smile

The Is200 tank has a hump in the middle so there's 2 floats. If one reads different to the other it causes a fault.

Good to know Stav thanks Smile

But why would this just randomly occur out of the blue and is it related to the jump start?

It's been fine ever since I did the fuel filler neck thing? I'm guessing the pressure released with engine running caused the float to dip and reset?
