Its just a dodgy photo the ring is 1 piece.

Good idea with an active crossover, it would sort out the "brightness" of the tweeters also and maybe improve the mid range bass?

Would a pair of 6*9's mounted in the rear doors improve mid range bass?? The gap in the door mouldings just happen to be the right size........

not really, it will destroy the sound stage..

you could experiment with em.. disable the tweeter on the and run them as midbass speakers, crossed over at >70hz<150hz. could still cause lots of staging probs. as crazy as it sounds it may also need to be wired out of phase..

you would be creating a psuedo surround or hafler effect and unless done correctly will sound terrible..

its a fine line between theory and practice though so if you have the time then experiment it cant hurt!

the other prob is you only have one preout so your control will be limited..

My advice would be to ignore any rears, try out active first. if you get the bass correct by playing with crossovers, placement and levels, you can increase the midbass effect and bring it forward so it doesnt feel like its behind you.. again it takes a lot of time but has a great sound when you achieve it.

I have mine set up for this but then a tweak of the levels and it goes loud! If i had thought i would have showed you.

somehow i get the feeling this will become a long journey for you... welcome to my world!
