Apologies in advance for this rant, especially one that has been discussed to death but saw the most ridiculous thing yesterday and had to share!

As I've mentioned before I commute on the A406 everyday now, so see awful lane discipline all the time, but this one really takes the p***!

Basically pulled up in the right lane behind a train of cars, all doing 40mph in a 50mph limit - looked up ahead and about 8 or 9 cars up the road there was a silver polo causing all the trouble, and there was nothing in front of it at all.......

Anyway, pulled to the left and got to the front of the train, when I pulled up alongside the aforementioned polo, looked across to see a young couple (well not actually sure if they were together or not) have a good laugh and a chat!

In an uncharacteristic moment of road rage, I got their attention and started shouting and gesturing to the effect "what the f*** do you think you're doing?" and "move over!"

Just pulled in front of them and burned off after that, but kept an eye on her in my rear view and guess what?

SHE DIDN'T PULL OVER EVEN AFTER THAT!

If I ever become transport minister, I'm going to let the police give people 3 points and a fine for driving like that :thumbup1:

On a similar note, since the M25 got extended to 5 lanes (or even 6) in the western section, that seems to be too much for most people to cope with. Even the 4 lane sections seem tricky too. Almost no-one wants to go in the inside lane, and in the 5+ lane sections, most drivers seem to treat the outside 3 lanes as the ones to drive as "normal" in, and ignore the inside 2 lanes, which just have the occasional lorry (obviously I'm talking about the times when it's not nose-to-tail in all lanes !).

Yeah I've seen that in places, I can't believe that we're probably the only country in the world that doesn't put enough emphasis on dual carriageway driving during the learning phase, and we don't even touch motorways which is just ludicrous to any intelligent person.

Lol if only it were that easy.......Big Grin

Personally I wouldn't undertake if people got out of the way - it's a bit of an egg vs chicken argument, but if people pulled to the left when not overtaking as they're supposed to there would be no opportunity to undertake.

I purposely undertake people who seem to be blithely unaware that they're in completely the wrong lane, e.g. when there's a massive gap in the lane to the left of them. Maybe I shouldn't, but I always do so carefully (though usually they're in their own little world and there's no chance of them suddenly pulling over). I also only do it when there's a big gap, I wouldn't weave in and out.

I think this is getting much worse since we have had so many more foreigners coming to live in the uk as they have totally different rules in some of the country abroad.
We should make every foreigner do our highway code before driving on our roads this may make our roads a safer place to be.
Also i agree with training our learner driver to drive in multi storey car parks and dual carriage ways and motorways

Well I do it to try and make a point to them (if they even notice lol). But I don't just zoom by them inside them in a dangerous way (i.e. fast).
