Boost gauge install
Boost gauge install
I own a supercharger for a few months and I would like to install a boost gauge.
Which gauge do the job without spending a lot of money?
And also, do you know where I can find a tuto with pics that explains how to install it, especially the sensor. I have never done it.
Thx
Any gauge is good really mate as long as it's not too cheap. But the good ones are Defi/AEM/HKS. But a manual boost gauge is good. It depends if you want manual or electronic.
Either way you'll have to tap into a vacuum line (either to run a hose to a manual gauge, or a hose to a sensor on an electronic gauge) which would be around the throttle body/plenum area.

Note: I didn't take the above pictures, Chris (Bandit on here) took them so please give him credit for the pictures.
You just put a t piece in the hose, then where the clear hose comes off, goes to either your sensor or the hose.
Then it's just feeding the hose/wire through one of the main rubber grommets in the firewall, through and up your dash.
Olis given you the best pics, youll struggle to find a gauge that does the low pressures of the charger, as most are 2bar and so the needle wont move much at 0.3bar
It is just for fun, i know the needle will not morve that much but it dors not mater.
Is there any advantages to get an analog or a digital gauge ? I have seen the AEM 30-5132M analog gauge but i do not understand what they call the sensor, is it the vacuum line on the pics above or is it an extra sensor ?
Sorry but i do not know any thing on this subject. I do not really understand where everything has to be plugged in the case of an analog and digital gauge.
A mechanical gauge the tube goes all the way to the gauge and a little tube inside the gauge expands to move the needle.
In an electrical gauge with a sensor, the pipe goes to the sensor then the sensor sends a signal to the gauge and a motor moves the needle
Yep mate
