The first thing to do will be to order a 2JZ-GE head gasket and a 1JZ-GTE head gasket and have a look at the differences. This should give me an idea of what (if any) work needs doing to mate the two together.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't another vvti 1.5J in the UK, I can only find non-vvti twin turbos.

Mr Bandido,

Project sounds awesome. I will be using it as a model for my IS300 project (after I run out of things to do to my 200). Smile

Which model Android head unit did you get? Any problems with it. I'm looking to do something similar.

2002 Lexus IS 200 Sports (Caliente) in the land of OZ.

The head unit is a pioneer appradio 2, the tablet is a nexus 7 (latest edition) and it is linked over HDMI/bluetooth for interaction between the two devices.

This will work for music, sat nav, internet radio and it will also function as the interface for the MS3pro, I can set up digital dashes and actually modify the map using the android app. I'm keen to avoid having a ton of gauges in the car, so having a tablet to sort everything in the car out suits me. I can also fold it away (in the OEM satnav housing) when I'm not using it, so there will be no distractions in the car.

Plus... it looks cool.

Edit: If you intend to replicate this kind of set up, you have to make sure the tablet fits the requirements of the app radio link. The earlier nexus 7 will not work.

Some ****** stoved the front end of the car in while it was in the Hotel car park, then drove off without leaving any details. So the IS300 will be going to the great scrap yard in the sky.

I'm feeling utterly defeated right now. I don't know what will be next, but I suppose it depends on how badly raped I get by the insurance company.

The world is out to get you isn't it! Unlucky man, I'd probably have a break down. How bad is it?

Yeah mate, I'm not having a good run at the moment.

It's more than aesthetic, the light is pushed back and bent down, which means the wing and inner wing are damaged. The bumper is ruined and I need to have a look at the damage under the bonnet and to the wheel arch this morning.

No mate, inner wing damage and nothing around the radiator is straight. I think this is the end of my 1st gen IS journey.
