Hi, thanks for this great tutorial. Everywhere I look, it's hard to find in depth information, or sometimes the pictures don't work anymore. I like how this explains in detail how it can be done in 3 stages...

Will this mod work exactly the same for IS300's in USA/Canada? I have a 2002 IS300 with a factory rear fog button. My trunk lights never light up when braking or just driving around. Only when the headlights are on and I activate the rear fogs do they light up...and they light up super bright as fogs.

So can the entire thing up to stage 3 be all done in the trunk...Or is it only stages 1-2 that can be done in the trunk?

The tutorial says to just cut and peel the wire....I don't really have anything to peel....should I just cut and splice in, or should I buy that special tool?....

I don't think I can grab any diodes locally very easily.....and I couldn't really find any 6a40 diodes on ebay unless it was a 100 pack.....does anyone have ebay links for the lamp holders and the diodes?

It's hard for me to understand how the mod works....so, taking the light source from the license plate...and we splice it into the extra wire out of the bulb holders?

Can anyone who has done this mod confirm the brightness of the lights? I have an Aussie IS200 and I'd like to perform this mod, but I'm worried about the brightness. When I activate my rear fogs, they are significantly brighter than my brake lights.

it would depend what lamps you have in place to be honest with how bright they are.

It's stock at the moment. I've been trying to find a bulb chart, but everything seems to point towards 21W filament bulb for the rear fogs, which is supposedly the same output as the brake lamps. This makes no sense to me though, since my rear fogs are significantly brighter than my rear brake lamps.

They are the same it's the side lights that are less, when the fog light is on it cancels our the brake light function. When I did the conversion I put 4 of the same bulbs in so they all matched.

Will this work for IS300 with rear fog lights? Anyone? I took a look at the connectors in the same location behind the rear seats driver side. The connectors look like they are different colors....but does anyone know if it's the same exact thing?

Couldn't find 6A 400v Diodes in maplins, ended up with some "P600D Silicon Rectifiers" 6A 200v maplin part No: UK60Q

Are theses suitable? Surely the 400v was overkill? Or am I overlooking something?
