Thanks for the tip pat.

What's the best way to do it?

Get all the cradle bolts all started off, then mount the charger and tighten everything up?

Or get the cradle bolted in and then force it into position to get the charger mounts to align?

I tried the pulling it into place technique. Wasn't happening. So I've ended up threading some bar in the hole then retapping it.

Wayne, you mean threading bar into the charger and drilling/tapping so you can bolt into the charger from below?

Basically screwed the threaded bar into the cradle hole as far down as I could, cut it off flush then welded a nut to the top of the cradle to act as a guide for where the hole needed to be. The rear left (as you are looking in the engine bay) was about 5mm off and a couple of mill low. Using the nut as a guide for the drill I drilled into it the tapped it out.

I tried the bending it into shape trick and I couldn't get it working. I didn't wanna be hanging off a bar with it on the car, plus no way you can get the charger on with a bar in the way. Taking the cradle off and doing it, you run into the problem of getting the cradle back on the car with the charger sat on top. I couldn't see how you could bend it into place and it holding in that place.

DannyStock Thanks Wayne -
even the merc pulley was hard to find, only merc make it no aftermarket support for it at all so no hope of cross-reff'in part no.s

On the flipside, rang merc direct they quoted 27 quid w/o VAT for the pulley which i can stomach.
Part no. 603 205 0110

It's also used on the Vito's from what the Merc breakers that I bought my charger from said. Might make sourcing em a little easier. I luckily found one on ebay for £13!

Sounds like the exact problem i have.

I'm gonna try a couple of things to get it to align but may have to do something similar

I went through every way I could think of. My first idea was to simply cut the cradle and reweld it, but I didn't have the balls for that, not to mention my welding skills suck. Tried to bend it and from just looking at it I knew it wouldn't work. I finally decided to simply alter the hole placement. Hopefully the charger sits in the right place and won't shred belts, I'll soon find out. Picking up the outlet tomorrow, then it's a case of routing pipework and fitting the blackbox.

A use of a scissor jack on the back to push them open works.

Plus using a breaker bar between charger and cradle pulls the cradle out enough to thread the bolts.

Done this on 3 cradles and worked just have to be rough
