now im confussed, is200/300 questions
right after being on here the last few days im not sure if an altezza will feel to under powered for me and but after reading other threads im confussed about the is200/300 so i need a few questions asked
whats the difference in the 2 cars ?
whats the engine spec/size of the 300 ?
does the is300 also come as a altezza equivilant spec (same enigne) ?
are the is300's JDM imports only
whats the standrad power of a is200 + is300 ?
also has anyone got pics of the different varients and altezza kitted cars (not standard/oem or TRD kits though)
thanks:thumbup:
The Altezza was 2 specs in engine,
AS200 which is the 2litre 6 cylinder 1gfe 153bhp version
and the RS200 was a 2litre 4 cylinder 3sge 210bhp version
The Is200 only came with the 2litre 6 cylinder 1gfe 153bhp engine same as the AS200
the IS300 comes with the 2jzge 3 litre engine and about 200bhp
the IS200 and 300 are uk cars by Lexus, The altezzas are Toyota imports
As for Spec, the Altezzas had cloth and not many toys.
The "s" spec IS200 has cloth and not many toys.
The "se" and "sport" IS200 have half leather and lots of toys (Sport had LSD and a couple of other bits)
The 300 has full leather and lots of toys.
Hope that helps

one thing I will say is the altezza is easier to tune with a wider variety of parts available

Links to specs from other site, no altezza though but Stav covered it well. Mines an IS300 if you wanna look at my pics.

All UK spec IS300's are auto.
They do a manual version in the US.
You could get a UK-spec IS300 (auto) then swap in an auto box. That will still "only" give you 211 bhp, so it probably won't feel that fast. But it's a stronger engine if you want to turbo it etc.
Otherwise you're looking at loads of money to do an engine swap or turbo conversion on an IS200. Which isn't justifiable in purely rational terms (you could get a car just as fast for a lot less money), but it would be a much more exclusive route.
Suspension and other non-engine parts are pretty much the same for the IS200/300/Altezza, they've just got different engines/ECUs and trim. It's a real shame that Lexus decided not to sell the manual version of the IS300 in the UK.
I think Steve meant swap in a "manual" box to an IS300, but otherwise it's all good sense. If you want a lot of power, I don't think the IS is the best starting point unless you want to invest a lot of money into it.
Plus fuel economy is pretty poor as standard, so tuned it has to be even worse!
im not after massive power around the 250ish bhp mark would be good, i must have a RWD car and something thats a little bit different, you dont see many modified is's about and i fancied taken it down the "VIP" style modding route, really low nice wide wheels etc etc but now im not so sure :crying:
