Carbon fibre intake for an IS200? refurb....
I started to do this a bit back and have only just started to play with it again? Got this off one of our great members :thumbup1:
Came quite badly scratched from the supplier and not the last owner. (hence why it was sprayed by the last owner)
This is how i got it..
Had to strip of all the red paint off before i could see how badly it was scratched? which took me ages as i was trying not to do any damage to the part..
Deep scratches and the red paint had bled into the carbon fibre..
After a really good sanding down and a good wipe over with some thinners...
And how it looks at the moment..
Still has quite a bit of the red paint on it, but with it bleeding into the weave i wont be able to get it out, (unless i spray it black then re-sand it which may hide the red?)
I've sanded it down so far it was starting to show the carbon weave in places so had to stop?
But its just had its 3rd coat of lacquer and its not looking too bad? will give it about 5 more coats and then see how it looks :thumbup1:
Looking better though i'd say :thumbup1:
good job mate,
think the spraying black and resanding is a good idea! whether you can be fussed or not is another thing
