So now that windows 7 has been out a while now what do you think of the software?

What model do you recommend professional or premium or even pro?

Lastly what benefits do you get over Vista?

Benefits over Vista = it actually works! Big Grin

Had Windows 7 for a few months and I can't really fault it. Been using it since microsoft allowed the RC to be downloaded. Much faster and smoother then Windows Vista.

If the machine just for home then Windows 7 Home Premium will be more then enough, unless you want to join up to a domain network, in which case Pro or Ultimate will be needed.

I would highly recommend it! Smile

Everyone has said it's pretty good, and it does seem Home Premium is all you really need.

Was playing with it on a few laptops while out shopping for one yesterday, can you switch off the grouping of windows on the taskbar? I may be the only one but I don't like the way macs group them together (and seems microsoft has now copied it) as it's not as quick to just flick between two windows........

That feature has actually been there since Windows XP mate.

Yep, you can turn it off by right clicking on the taskbar and finding the corresponding option.

Sounds like it's spot on then.......technically then even if you have a mac you're probably better off running windows? :tongue_smilie:

Think I'll have to do the upgrade in the new year, when's the first service pack likely to be out?
