the filter is removed through the space you just had your arm up

you fit your new filter in the reverse order
remember and fit a new sump plug washer before fitting the sump plug tighten up and fill with oil job done.

heres my wee stubby ratchit ideal for this job
the filter is removed through the space you just had your arm up
you fit your new filter in the reverse order

James S What can I use to get the filter off? Do I need to shell out for the proper tool??

Last time I did an oil filter change I used a "boa" tool, all it is is a long rubber belt with a plastic handle only cost £5!!
Something like this.

Another daft thing that works to remove the filter is a leather belt?(one to hold your jeans up?) make a loop with the belt, slip it over the filter pull it tight and with the loose end wrap it over the filter and pull, if you do it right it'll turn the filter using the buckle and belt for grip :laugh:
