Help still Big Problems with my lexus is200
sorry guys just got back from work, no news yet as I have not picked up the car from the mechanic yet, probably going to be on saturday morning, lexus are saying the sensor will be with them next week, hopefully they will post it to me
sorry lexynik never saw your long post as I hadnt refreshed the page this morning when I posted
Lexusboy what software would I use with the obdII scanner?
I will try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins first
sorry jase i missed your post, just got in from an evening course - i didnt realise your car was still at the mechs - how annoying, you must have to be ringing him and suggesting things to try - keep us posted - definately ask the guy to disconnect the battery 4 10 minutes - its free !! if he doesnt charge you for the time it takes him - and who knows it could do the trick
I have been ringing him but all I get is I am too busy and havent had any time to look at your car, that is so annoying, tomorrow I will call him and ask him how much I owe him and pay for the car and collect it, he makes it sound like ive burdened him with my car
I have decided it will be better if I have the car and that way I can try what you guys are suggesting without it costing me a pound, well except for the parts, what do you guys think?
I have never tried doing it but have a good understanding of what is required, I am willing to try, can't be worse than leaving at the mechanic and him not doing anything with it dont you think?
also can someone please recommend a good cheap obdII scanner, I found this on ebay, please let me know what you think:

On the battery thing, it's easier if you reset the ECU by removing a couple of fuses, see this post for full details. That way you don't lose the time on the clock, radio settings etc etc.
On the OBDII front, are you going to get one that needs a laptop or a standalone type (i.e. that just plugs in on its own, no laptap) ?
thanks Nick for the links you sent me, I have a laptop with xp and one with windows 7, xp will probably be alot more compatible as windows 7 hasn't been out long enough dont you think?
Stevie I would prefer a standalone as that way I do not need the laptop but from what I have seen it seems that the ones that require a laptop can do more, is that always the case with the obdII scanners?
