Help still Big Problems with my lexus is200
10/10 for perseverence mate - i guess if your throttle assy has not been fitted properly and "SET UP" correctly you could get that kind of problem, you dont have much luck with garages do you,i cant see why that would make it cut out though but maybe it messes everything up ie air/fuel mixture etc--mind you i know nothing so ,,,,,
have you still got that guy coming tomorrow ?
It does sound like a problem with the throttle cable, probably connected with the fact that you had the throttle body replaced (e.g. the cable wasn't reattached properly or some other problem related to the cable).
Where do things stand relating to the speed sensor ?
Thanks Nick, I am glad to have the car with me that way I can try all these things, the guy is still coming tomorrow but unfortunately he does not have any is200 parts but he will give me the codes from the lexus diagnostics scanner which will help
Steve what is weird though is you have to let it cool down and it will start again so do you think this could still be related to the throttle body
The speed sensor I get sometime next week
Also I forgot to mention when it cuts out got the mrs to keep on trying to start it and stood outside and you can actually hear the car stutter and there is like a poppin noise from the exhaust as if the car is struggling to breathe, are these symptoms of anything obvious?
Thanks guys for the advice, it is always really appreciated
Gord there are 2 cats on the is200, what would be the best way to see if they have brokendown?
Phil coil number 5 is malfunctioning, you think its struggling when it gets hot?
I was told by the garages the coil is not misfiring but it keeps coming up with the code
Thanks guys, advice is appreciated
There's 3 cats on the is200 matey, 2 pre cats in the manifold down pipe and the main cat under the car, you'd have to take the down pipe off to see if its the pre cats, it sometimes happens in the supercharged is200's so people have the pre cats removed?
if i had to remove the 2 precats what would I replace them with?
does the is200 always show the diagnostic code if a cat is not working?
You don't need to replace the pre-cats, it will run fine without them. Or if you still wanted them you could find a manifold (with pre-cats built in) from a breaker's.
Don't know for sure about the second question. I would have thought it should do, given that there are sensors after both the pre-cats and the main cat.
that is fine then, only question is if i remove the precats won't i need to find pipe to ake up for where they hve been taken off?
will the engine light come on without the precats on the car?
