Ok guys, i wanted to get a portable dvd player for the kids and with decent ones costing £70/80+ i thought i might as well spend a bit more and get a notebook which i could obviously be able to get more use of. Whats the deal with Windows 7? Is it stable enough yet, anyone had any experience with it or should i stick with XP/Vista.....

No idea of Windows 7, but avoid Vista at all costs!

kam05 No idea of Windows 7, but avoid Vista at all costs!
Got vista not long after it came out and it was a pile of poo!!.....still not as good as xp but a lot more stable then it was
Jambo Windows 7 from what i heard is excellent.
Sparkystav I run 7 on my laptop and the missus;s netbook and its awesome!

Also runs well on lower spec machines if you turn off the fancy graphics
I take the graphics is a feature if 7? I've heard that you need 2gb ram as a minimum for running 7, it's likely that I will be getting a a book with 1gb, will it run ok on this?
