For the first time in 7 weeks........
I have started driving the Lex again :biggrin::biggrin:
Finally got my car back on Saturday after 7 weeks of it being sat at TGT and took it for a blitz today. I haven't missed it that much to be honest but after my little spin in it today it made me realise how much i do love driving it.
Been driving Sarah's little 1 litre Yaris for the last 2 weeks, and although its not that exciting the fuel economy on her's is just great! Sarah will be using mine during the week for work and i will use her's. and we will swap back at weekends. Most of the time when we are together i drive anyway.
I know some of you will ask why my car has been sat at TGT for the last 7 weeks well i will explain........car was put in for service and i had a really strange knock coming from the back. While i was in Hospital and for a few weeks after the car just sat there as i didn't have money to throw at it and James was kind enough to keep it inside and dry.
During the 5th week we discovered what was making the knocking noise, it was a rear rubber bush that is in the bottom of the hub. Both sides had gone! simple, just get new bush's from lexus right? WRONG!!! lexus don't sell these bush's individually, they will however very kindly sell you the whole hub :Chair:
Wasn't going to go down that route! James very kindly spoke to a polybush company and gave them the measurements and after they checked their whole stoke it looked like a subaru bush might do the job. one was ordered and a few days later arrived. It didn't fit so it was back to square one! They said they can custom make them but would need 100+ quantity ordered for them to make them. sod that! Then i discovered a guy selling the bush's on ebay for £50 each, and i needed both sides. The guy has obviously dicovered a similar bush that does the job and probably costs him 50p to get. I didn't like it but it saved me buying new hubs from lexus. This has been a complete pain in the **** but its finally done and the knock has gone.
While it was at TGT i also had a service, O2 sensor replaced, top ball joint, bottom ball joint and my EDFC unit adjusted.
While it was up on the ramps i discovered that i have some rather serious inside tyre ware so i guess its back to WIM and so it continues.......................
Sorry for the essay, and to sum it up i love my lexus! lol

hmmmmmm.........wonder if i could get that in the buggy!
Not going to do too much more to the lex, keeping the power stuff for the buggy.
Plan is to just clean up a few things on the lex and then just repaint/clean/powdercoat etc......just keep it as a daily cruiser.
I don't have any pictures of the bush's or the install. I can't believe i forgot to take pics, its because i was probably working on the Demon at the time.
This is the ebay link, again it doesn't show the bush's but does show the location of where they fit.

If anyone can find somewhere cheaper or an alternative that would help members out LOADS. as currently the only option is from this guy, or new hubs hock:

DJ Wozza That's poor from Lexus, as the bushes are probably no more than 50p to make and rather than sell them at £10-£15 each they want to sell you a whole new hub.....
It's a shame you didn't take any photos/sizes of the bush as someone out there makes 'em.....
