I had the car done yesterday and not very happy they only changed the belt, thought a lexus dealer would know to do the full kit, now know the belts ok for another 60k at least but not the rest of it Angry

So did they do the water pump when they done the belt?

So have you got to book back in for the ball joint?

Yeah I think the dealer will not normally replace the tensioner. I guess they could say that people would complain if they always changed it, especially if it didn't look like it needed doing (i.e. it would cost more).

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Do you suggest to change tensioner and water pump with cam belt or it is not always necessary? Timpo your water pump had a problem or they changed it just in case...?

It can be useful to change both. Firstly, if the tensioner is worn at all, then it will cause increased wear on your new cam belt.

As for the water pump, in order to replace this, you have to take all the belts off to do this part. So unless you can be sure your water pump will last till the next cam belt change, it makes it cheaper to change it at the same time as the cam belt. Of course, that depends on exactly how long your water pump is likely to last, and that can be difficult to tell ! You can always have a look at it and see if you can see any leaks. Mine looked fine to me, but when it came off I saw it had been leaking from underneath.

Soz to re-start this thread but if the water pump has a leak is it a problem with the pump or just a worn out gasket? mines defo got a small leak but would rather just get the gasket done if that's all it'd need.

40mm Lowering Springs, Re-sprayed Front, 6000K HID's, Re-furbed alloys, Bandit Induction Kit (cheers Chris), Raised boot spoiler with LED, Blue calipers with silver decals, De-badged rear, Chrome Oil Filler Cap (thanks to Chris again), White LED dash bulbs, Blue a/c control bulbs, Blue door markers and interior lights, Sony head unit, Chrome Lexus tax disc holder, TRD side skirts, Original Saloon Front Bumper re-fitted instead of Sportcross
