2tongues Thats what I hate about them, the power is all in one bit lump then you hit the rev limiter.

I recently had the pleasure of driving my mates Mondeo ST TDCI Diesel and I know what you are saying about the power gone in just one gear change BUT the BMW diesels are not like that!

My 330D (ok not a standard car I'll admit) revs all the way to 5K before theredline starts, but you shouldn't be revving a diesel hard anyway - peak power and torque is from around 2Krpm anyway and and it beings to tail off after about 4.5Krpm.

Had the 320d before my IS that was very quick for a heavy car. 150bhp with big low-down grunt gave alot of cars a run for their money.
