Scenario

theres a bridge on a country A road, with curved sides, thus meaning any high vehicles have to take to the centre of the road to pass through.

there are lines indicating this, and signs warning of the fact to lorrys, and car drivers that there may be a lorry in the middle of the road.

i get all that

but if a lorry is sat the otherside of the bridge to which you are entering it, with his indicator on waiting to move into the middle of the road for passage, do you stop and let him through?

From the side i was travelling immediately before said bridge is a blind corner that then dips downwards towards the bridge, so it would be safe to say its not the brightest place to stop and give way to a lorry at the best of times let alone voluntarily

needless to say as i approached the bridge i saw the lorry indicating whilst stationary, but never for the life of me thought the mupped in the fiesta in front was going to practically emergency stop to give way to it.

End result

Anchors on, swerve to miss, sideways through bridge, narrowly miss lorry

( i also dont understand the ferocisty of this manouver as i was only going 50mph and must of covered nearly 100 metres, perhaps it was damp due to shade?)

If im missing something here please tell me, i'll always put my hands up if im wrong

but i think im right

Did you hit anything ??

And the lorry would only be able to enter the middle of the road if it was clear to do so .

Think I would have given the fiesta driver a bit of a slap !!

no, narrowly missed the **** of the fezza, and then lost it sideways into the tunnel, but had the mind to turn into the slide hard so i didnt get stuck sideways

I did contemplate the slap, although i was so angry it may not of stopped there.

from the top of the blind bend you can see the bridge, and im always cautious if a lorry is entereing it or already in it, but never thought a car would actually stop to let one through.

In the end i had to apologise to everyone else for making myself look like a ***????????????????????

i can only presume the dramatic stop made it look like i was speeding, whcih i wasnt cus diesel aint cheap at the moment

I think the highway code would never say to give way if it was in any way dangerous to do so - the fiesta driver was clearly a moron (as the majority of drivers nowadays)

Nah definitely not just you, I was following a Megane on the A406 a few weeks ago, in the right lane, no cars ahead, pretty light traffic all around. Approach the junction with the M11 and this car just suddenly slams on the brakes (no idea why except perhaps wasn't sure where they were going?)

Either way, luckily I was on the ball so didn't ram her, jumped on the horn and she quickly pulled left and as I passed looked at me as though I was insane! What is wrong with these people? :cursing:
