There's nothing to say the iPhone is far ahead of the game though, all it has is a large customer base and a lot of apps. The customer base can disappear just as quickly as it arrived if they don't change it up enough (the shift to android can already be seen) and the apps are mostly pointless - anything useful is available on both OS.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, the hardware is sexy as hell, but to pay double what I'm paying for my desire? No thanks

The desire's essentially the same as the nexus one - the hardware is identical except for the 2 microphones which is why I quoted the N1.
There's nothing to say the iPhone is far ahead of the game though, all it has is a large customer base and a lot of apps. The customer base can disappear just as quickly as it arrived if they don't change it up enough (the shift to android can already be seen) and the apps are mostly pointless - anything useful is available on both OS.

its the same as any technology, televisions, phones, laptops etc etc
the smartphone revolution was lead by apple which gives them a bigger market share and customer base,
Android is just catching up and will eventually be on a par with it.
there is only so much you can do with a phone, there will soon be a plateua where nothing else can be acheived until newere technologies arrive
the only difference is because apple lead the way they will always be the strongest and most followed competitor
the thing to look out for is when theres a whole new mobile technology other than touchscreen / tilt gaming etc who gets there first
my bet would be apple personally and the cycle of everyone else playing catchup begins again

would of thought a minimun of about £400-£500 possibly even more than that seeing as the ipad is about £600ish quid :eek:

That was the point I was making - they aren't leading the way technologically, the iPhone 4 doesn't bring anything new to the table that wasn't there in the Nexus One. They are leading the way in marketing and design though.........
The iPad is an example though where they've capitalised on a potential gap and got there first - again I find the actual device irritating due to it just being an enlarged iPhone but I can't wait for the products it will now cause to emerge that will be a lot more useful. For that Apple must be commended, as with both the phone and the pad, they've forced everyone else to up their game which has made the products coming to market so much better than before.
