The Prius is getting some loving!!

The OEM speakers are to be replaced with proper ones and amped up to really sound good. There are several problems with doing this to a hybrid vehicle, but 99% of them are "solvable" by using efficient and quality equipment, it does mean that 2000w amps are not really possible, so thats my mega boot build gone!!!!

So after a huge amount of research and reading various forums about this car, I have put together a fairly simple but effective set up. its going to be something like this:

Audiocontrol LC6i signal summing line output converter - this beauty will sum together the OEM audio channels and reduce the OEM 45W RMS down to up to 14v line output (+/-12db gain) plenty to feed amps and keep the gains comparatively low.

Hifonics BXiPro1.0 Digital Bass Enhancement Processor - lovely bit of kit very similar to the Audiocontrol Epicentre that Wozza uses but half the price!! Being Hifonics should be good. This little box of bass tricks restored the low harmonics removed by MP3 compression and of course OEM sound systems. OEM systems remove the sub bass to protect the OEM speakers so they will last the life of the car, its simple but annoying if you like bass.

Vibe LiteboxBS4 (4x90Wrms) - this beauty is a digital amp, which gives Class A/B amp performance but only has power drain of a class D amp - something that is important in keeping power drain to a minimum.

Alpine mono block amp - something that I have had lying around kicking its heels for a bit.

JL Audio 6" subwoofers, one in each rear door, will fit without changing anything!! The 8" ones also fit but require the plastic speaker grill to be pushed out with a heat gun, something I am not happy doing...

6.5" Components up front (yet to decide probably JL's)
and a 10" band passed sub box in the boot

So with this in the process of being bought, installed etc I will be able to keep the factory blue-tooth and the sat nav voice, and with the sub removed then boot space is needed there will be some bass from the 6"'s.

Thats going to be hard, the whole install is going to be done with the car still looking stock. Apart from a bass box in the boot nothing will show, I love the amount of space this car has for hiding things like amps and sound processors.

1st bit done, really should have taken a photo!!

Made the amp and sound processor rack, just waiting for the second amp and sound processor to arrive so they can be screwed into place and start running cables through the car.
