hmmm well i'm not a massive apple nut, yeah the games etc would be fun but not essential.

ok so it's narrowed down between the desire and the Galaxy, so my choice is take the risk in the hope that the new firmware for the Galaxy sorts all the problems or just get the desire which in itself is still a awesome phone.

My upgrade is due 28th August so have just over a month to see how we go Big Grin

One more thing to throw a spanner in the works, take a look at the Nexus One. Almost identical hardware to the Desire. Differences, Desire runs HTC Sense (so if you like that, then go with that) but Nexus is already on android 2.2 (froyo) which is miles faster than the desire. But the new firmware has fixed my galaxy, so if you're not afraid to flash the device, then the Galaxy's screen is amazing, it's also so much lighter than the desire that it's silly.

Here are some benchmark scores - as you can see the Nexus One running 2.2 is way out in the lead, however the image on the right shows what I'm trying to do to my Galaxy at the mo and the performance boost it will allow (if I can figure out this linux/command prompt stuff!) Once the Galaxy has 2.2 it will be even faster, because it's hardware is far superior.

yeah just watched a few reviews on youtube of the Galaxy vs Desire and you can see how much clearer the screen is on the video.

Think I will get the Galaxy as I say I won't be upgradeing until end of August so hopefully 2.2 is out by then or atleast a updated firmware for it.

Basically I'm trying to do what's in this thread, I've done everything it said but I don't seem to be getting the result everyone else is. Do you know where I might be going wrong?

The motorola android phones are pretty good, if anything it's what samsung's done to the galaxy S that I don't like, the hardware is brilliant, but the software could do with a bit more work, especially having come from an HTC.

Got it sorted, and it's amazing! Definitely go for the galaxy, mine is like 3 times faster than the desire now, and I'm not exaggerating - it is literally flying! I'm amazed firstly that Samsung could've crippled such stunning hardware so badly, and also that some tech geeks off a forum could figure it out and create such a simple fix that even I could sort it - well chuffed :thumbup1:
