Why is it, that in these days with relatively cheap mobile phones that have sexy interfaces, lots of these expensive head units have a GUI that looks like it was designed over 10 years ago ? :confused1:

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Clearly no one in Kenwood has ever done an HMI course... the Alpine media master thingy is truly awful too!

Actually, thinking about it some more, I think it's a Japanese thing, isn't it ? i.e. the Japanese are brilliant at lots of things, but are pants when it comes to GUIs ?

lol I dunno, I had an Addzest (Jap Clarion) head unit in my '2 when I first imported it. It was Japanese sat nav, a television, minidisc & CD player (and (S)VCD too I think) and the interface was a picture of the galaxy. Each planet was a different input source!! It was a work of genius but at the same time was useless.

Lets not forget the HKS CAMP thingy I installed in my '2 that has an aquarium mode where the fish die if you drive like a ****. I think the Japanese make some quite ingenius interfaces Smile

Not that I've ever seen. They always seemed more concerned with having as many garish animations distracting you as possible. I am a bit out of touch with this stuff though, not looked into it for a year or so.

In terms of GUI the Pioneer is very sexy, it's everything I'd expect from one but sadly it isn't the best unit......
