Just thinking out loud really, as it's highly unlikely I'll find a S/C kit for the money I'd be prepared to spend, or likewise do a turbo conversion, but curiosity demands I ask Wink

Taking a stock, 85k, 200 lump, such as mine, and a TTE S/C kit, would else would be needed to get the power up to 220/225bhp, and if the plan was turbocharging, what would it entail to get the same level of power?

Also, which would give better torque?

(lastly, possibly a stupid Q, but I don't know - is the TTE S/C kit just for the 200, or can it be fitted to the 300 too? If it can, what does it bring the 300's 211bhp up to?)

Thanks!

I agree. The 1G-FE in the IS200 is a very inefficient engine and there aren't a lot of options if you want more power, unless you want to spend loads of money.

A supercharger is probably the cheapest way to gain 50hp if you want to keep your 200.

no the tte sc kit will not fit the 300, im currently going through the motions of getting my charger install completed, had to wait for a custom setup, I eventually got hold of jimxms kit last year that he had on his car using a procharger c2 and everything is expensive lol

the easiest route to go would be to straight swap from an is200 to is300, the 300 is 211bhp as standard, add a decent exhaust and intake and you'll be near on 220 as long as the engine can still produce all the ponies through good maintenance and servicing.

I thought that'd be the case! I'd still feel the 300 was down on power though, since it's a 3 litre! The 200 at 150bhp is down, but at 220ish would be about right, so a 3 litre would need to be best part of 300bhp to make sense...

It's a shame Europe didn't get the 3S-GE engine in the IS, but you could get an Altezza RS200 without having to sit on the wrong side of the car. I can't :tongue_smilie:

I must admit, I thought about the Altezza, but much prefer the smoothness of the 6 pot IS lump, and all the other gubbins in the car. Hmm, so either switch up to the 300, or chuck WAY too much money into the engine bay of the 200 I guess...
