Whining noise when idle
Whining noise when idle
When my car has been de-frosting and warming up over the last couple of days, it has been making an awful noise.
It stops as soon as you put the clutch down. Is it the clutch release bearing? The noise has been around happening for a while, but has got a lot worse recently.
My clutch is healthy, does it need the gearbox out to fix it? And what happens if the bearing fails? My is200 is a daily and I need it to be reliable for work and can't be without it.
If it's just on idle could it be a loose belt or something? Not sure why it would disappear when you put the clutch down though. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable has an answer!
Does sound like the bearing, if it fails and falls apart itll fall about the bell housing, as soon as you put your clutch down it'll rip apart the pressure plate.
Yes the gearbox needs to come out unfortunately.
I'm assuming its when idling as well
Whining noise when idle ... That's a LexusPat
I would say stav is right, mine made the same noises, only needed the bearing so wasn't a big cost.
